How to Bet
Every Texas Hold’em game is bet in four rounds. With a predetermined minimum and maximum bet, depending on how small or big your wallet is.

For example, a $2/$4 game has four betting rounds. The first two have a limit of $2 and the last two rounds have a limit of $4. You are allowed to bet or raise up to the limit of the round you’re playing. So the maximum you can bet or raise in the first two rounds in this situation will be $2, and the maximum you can bet or raise in the last two rounds is $4.

Starting the Game
When the game starts, two “blind” bets are put up. The player to the left of the dealer puts up half of the minimum bet allowed, then the player to the left of the small blind posts the big blind, which is the minimum bet allowed.

Every player eventually gets to act as the small blind, big blind and the dealer.

Each player gets dealt two cards face down, with the player on the small blind getting the first card and the dealer getting the last card. The first round starts with the player to the left of the big blind either putting in $2 to “call” the blind bet, putting in $4 to “raise” the big blind or folding his hand. The betting goes on until it gets back to with the small blind, and each player has the option to raise the bet.
